Teddy bears were the 20th century’s hottest toys becausePresident Teddy Roosevelt heroically saved a bear when hewas out and about. This story became legendary, and toymanufacturers jumped on the popular press to create toysthat parents would be proud to give their children.Eventually, the toys were so popular that every home in townhad a teddy bear. With the advent of Disney movies, stuffedanimals were the newest craze, but the teddy bear alwaysretained a place in the hearts of children. Ganz teddy bearsstarted being made in the 1950’s, and they still have thatworn, vintage look that’s so appealing to collectors andsmall children.
