What is Arginine? Is it bad for cold sore?

By admin | February 19, 2010

A friend told me that eating foods with arginine will only worsen my cold sores. He said that it is an amino acid and it can cause a cold sore to appear. The cold sore home remedies help that I gathered from a certain website has a better explanation.

It’s correct that Arginine is an amino acid and it provokes the cold sore outbreaks and the Herpes virus needs it to multiply and causes symptoms. But not all amino acids are bad to cold sore. Lysine is also an amino acid that is scientifically proven to reduce and stop the growth of Herpes virus and prevent its replication.
